Easy Decorations for a Harry Potter Party
This is the third post in a series of posts on throwing an amazing Harry Potter party AND having some fun while you're at it. If you'd like to read the first two posts you can find them here and here. Now that you've sent the party invitations it's time to figure out party decorations and supplies.
I believe that simple decorations can make a big impact. A party table looks beautiful and modern when you don't overdo it. We've kept the decorations modern and simple with our Harry Potter party box. It includes everything you need for the party, all the decorations plus coordinating tableware, balloons, a clear container for candy, even birthday candles.
We kept a clean black and white color scheme with some pops of gold. The gold makes me think of the kids sitting at the tables in the Great Hall during a big celebratory feast. You can see that we include gold and black tableware in our party box to coordinate with the theme. These supplies aren't extravagant because they don't need to be, they are strong and classic and do a great job. The birthday banner is included with our party box as a digital file so all you have to do is print it out or send it to your local printer. I love that little pop of color in the Harry Potter scar.
When we hosted my son's Harry Potter birthday party I bought some Hogwarts and Gryffindor fabric banners online. Those were a fun and easy way to decorate other parts of our house. You can see the Gryffindor banner here.
I couldn't resist spending some time gluing wings on keys I bought and then I hung them from the ceiling above the party table. That was totally over the top but I actually enjoyed doing it. If you don't like doing party crafts, don't do them! If you do, here is a picture and I'll pin some DIY instructions on how to make them on our Wizard Party Pinterest board.
I hope this short post gave you some guidance on decorations. Please feel free to contact us if you want to talk Harry Potter party ideas...seriously it will make my day! After all that fun party talk, just remember to keep things easy and simple when you plan a party so that you can enjoy it. There is no such thing as perfect so don't get stressed out about it. Why have a party if it isn't going to be fun?
